Membership: We fundamentally lead with respect and kindness for everyone. Honoring all people and recognizing that historically voices of some individuals have been muted. BEL is a space that welcomes all shades of humanity. BEL recognizes that human rights are exercised without discrimination of any kind based on race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status such as disability, age, marital and family status, sexual orientation and gender identity, health status, place of residence, economic and social situation”.

Membership
Black Environmental Leader
The Black Environmental Leader membership is for Americans of Black African descent who work for and/or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. This membership also includes folks who have a passion for the Environment, Climate Change and Environmental Justice.
BEL Ally
BEL Ally membership is available for individuals who work and/or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. Allies actively engage in an authentic journey of supporting Environmental Justice and expanding their understanding of the lived experience of African Americans.
Shades of Humanity Member
The Shades membership is available for individuals who represent or identify as a member of all shades of humanity and/or multiracial, i.e. American or Alaska Native, Asian, Hispanic or Latino and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.
Group or Organization Member
The BEL Group or Organization Membership is available to all groups or organizations that are mission-aligned to Black Environmental Leaders Association and wish to make a commitment to Environmental and Economic Justice work.
Community Memberships
Youth Leader
Youth Leader membership is for those who work and/or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. Youth Leaders are between 18 - 30 years old.
Donation Amount: $30/year or $3/month
Community Leader
Community Leader membership is available to all Americans, of black African descent, who work or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. This membership is sponsored through grants.
Donation Amount: Sponsored
Elder
Elder membership is for Americans, of black African descent, who work and/or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. Elders are 65 years of age or older and may be called upon for permission to begin public events.
Donation Amount: $50/year or $5/month
Life Memberships
Life Member
Life Black Environmental Leader or BEL Ally membership is available to all individuals, who work or volunteer in either the built or natural environment. BEL Family memberships can also be converted into a Life Membership.
Emerging Life Member
The Emerging Life Membership provides an installment plan to achieve Life Membership. Emerging Life members are current members of BEL as long as their installment payments are up to date.
